Although I dont remember the D500 being marketed as a pro camera, it does share contol ergonomics with the higher models so perhaps the parallel also extend to one for the pros and one for the consumers. Hence the button to press.

Indeed it was and should be. The D500 is a great camera and could have reached more success if Nikon did not advertise it to fill a niche and released it with the D7500. It makes no difference what camera you use, as long as you know how to use it.

I can see why..... The last sentence... Even confuses me....a couple of works for left out. My Canon is better picture quality, but the Nikon is better over all for it's other capabilities. My Canon is older than the Nikon.

Canon or Nikon, is like Ford or Chevrolet, they both are excellent does not matter what others choose. Pick the one that you feel comfortable with. Learn now to use it and post process. Results from either will be excellent depending on your skills as a photographer.

I ended up went with Nikon mostly because of a job I had in college involving a copy stand and making precision slides of images in books for lectures. Getting the most from every frame was critical, and the F had 100% accuracy in the viewfinder with respect to the frame. For personal use I had Pentax. Later, my family snapshot go-to camera was a Minolta SRT100, $25 bucks from a yard sale, but solid in every way. Except for the copy stand work, it could easily have been Canon, Mamiya/Sekor, or any brand. It was not a dogmatic choice, more of a result of circumstances. As for cars, when I was a kid vets were more common than beetles, but I think it was a local thing.
