The 1946 movie also had a under 1 hour radio version with Jimmy Stewart.
I played it this weekend on my radio show. If you haven't heard it, it is quite nice. https://connecting.diolc.org/

The previous show featured a Professor of "Servant Leadership" from Viterbo University talking about this story of the movie and how it flopped in 1946.

Both are up -free, no emails or passwords needed- fo listening or downloading.

The show starts at approximately the six minute mark after the introduction.

That is my show...just skip past the intro. I cleaned it up, removed clicks, did some EQ.

I think I've watched the movie, "It's a Wonderful Life" almost every year since 46'.
Sure I know every line and scene, but it's an emotional experience I want to repeat every year.

Happy Holidays!! Most of the time, it really is a "wonderful life"!

Hi Mark,
One of my favorites as well. Got a commercially made “colorized BlueRay dvd“ version; will not bother to view the black and white version again. Also, got the colorized version of Holiday Inn. The scene with Fred Astaire doing a solo dance while lighting off firecrackers in color is, in my opinion, 100% enhanced over the b&w version.
Happy holidays to you,
Bill

Thanks, Bill. I guess I'm a bit old fashioned - I prefer the original B & W.
And Fred Astaire & Ginger Rogers!! They don't "makem" like that anymore!!
Or like this either: https://youtu.be/JOoNOs8Ql28

Happy Holidays, Bill!!

Problem with radio. No Donna Reed, Bert and Ernie (aka Ward Bond and Frank Faylen), Zuzu, and Lionel Barrymore.

BTW....There's a gravedigger at the local cemetery known as Lionel Burymore.

Don't let that hold you back. That site is presenting the radio version with Jimmy Stewart. It's called Part 2 and runs for almost an hour. I don't know what happened to Part 1. You can also download it.

I agree about the B&W and think you'd appreciate "Thanks for the Memories", movie version with Bob Hope. A pretty clever set, that never gets old. It's interesting to note that he lived another 60+ years after making this.

I have no problem with colorized movies, provided they are done well. Life is in color. I color film was available from the beginning, B&W films would have been a novelty that didn't succeed. The one exception would those old film noir movies. B&W is perfect for them.
