I don’t remember seeing much in the way of tennis photography in this section. Here are a few from the last couple years of two sisters. Note on the last photo how well the R6 stayed locked on the eye.
I shot these with an R6 and ef 70-200 f2.8 lens with ef-rf adapter.
Fabulous series... excellent timing... peak pivotal moments... ball into frame... intense expressions...
And full FACE in every frame!
Very Tough venue with the chain link fence omnipresent... no way out of the confine except maybe an f/1.4 lens wide open but then again the DOF would make nailing the eyes a serious challenge...
Love Tennis! My dad taught me at a very young age... taught my son who became the Captain of his high school tennis team... Wonderful sport, low injury ratio so you can play it for decades... not many playing full contact sports into their "golden years"
Virtually no want of role models for these young ladies...
Serena Williams.
Steffi Graf.
Martina Navratilova.
Margaret Court.
Chris Evert.
Monica Seles.
Billie Jean King.
Venus Williams.
Tennis is a sport where finesse dominates over strength... and a joy to watch the graceful ballet unfold on court...
Add to that doubles matches are incredibly intense...
Big-serving tennis players have benefited throughout tennis history.
One of the most advanced weaponry a tennis player may have is a powerful, well-placed first serve.
Sabine Lisicki rewrote the record books by serving the fastest-ever serve on the WTA circuit in her match against Ana Ivanovic at the 2014 Stanford Classic. The German breached the elusive 130 mph mark for the first time as she clocked a thunderous serve measuring 210.8 km/h (131.0 mph).
Top women's tennis service...
1. Sabine Lisicki (131.0 mph)
2. Venus Williams (129.0 mph)
3. Serena Williams (128.6 mph)
4. Julia Gorges (126.1 mph)
5. Brenda Schultz-McCarthy (126.0mph)
6. Nadiia Kichenok (125.5mph)
7. Naomi Osaka and Lucie Hradecka (125.0mph)
8. Anna-Lena Groenefeld (125.0mph)
9. Ana Ivanovic (124.9 mph)
10. Kristina Mladenovic (124.3 mph)

Wow Thomas I just had a wonderful lesson in tennis. I have shot a few games but that's it. Maybe next season I will give it another go.
