In another section, use of the term Oriental was questioned. My response to that was:

I cannot fathom how anyone could object to "Oriental", for inanimate or animate! I anticipate the time coming - near term - when any verbal communication will "offend" somebody or something! Next to be forbidden will be facial expression, then "body language"!! When will the 99.99% quit believing it necessary to accede to the stupid/arrogant/attention seeking demands of the 0.01%??? And now as a "World Citizen", I guess I can't say that my ancestry is English, German, French and a touch of American Indian. I suspect the safest action is to facilitate inaction - gather a supply of opium pipes and retire from societal contact completely. After all, there are those who maintain that what we perceive as reality is nothing but a dream! It appears that now, for many reasons, I'm fortunate to be 95!

We had a case here that a girl in silk/Chinese dress was kicked out from a prom for "cultural appropriation".
I must add that no Chinese students in western clothes were kicked out.

It is funny that all those BS/PC rules work just one way...

I don't think so. You're probably referring to this: https://www.buzzfeednews.com/article/kassycho/keziah-daum-prom-qipao-cheongsam.

No one was "kicked out."

If you're referring to some other incident do you have a news reference?

No, I do not have reference to this incident. I heard it on radio...
But here is another funny link:

Seems you heard it wrong.

The article linked here begins with a false statement. The University did not ban a free weekly yoga class.

The Student Federation (not the University) suspended the yoga class to consider concerns involving cultural and yoga (there has been some controversy). The free yoga class has been re-instated.

The problem is that they spelled "appreciation" wrong and got confused. It is "cultural appreciation".

The real problem is that the correct term for the woke concept is in fact "cultural appropriation"!!!

Human beings are programmed to cause trouble. We simply cannot get along with each other. Never have. Never will.

Oriental rugs are not oriental anymore. At one time the name was used because they were made in the orient. Now they are made anywhere and the word is used more to describe a pattern then a place of manufacture. On top of all that they are now mostly machine made whereas at one time a true oriental rug was hand woven.

It's strange that "oriental" and "Gypsie" are now forbidden words. I wonder what Gypsie Rose Lee would think of that. Will that movie ever be shown again? As my computer just reminded me, "Gypsie" must be capitalized.

We have another delicate situation coming up: Happy Holidays or Merry Christmas? Either one is "fightin words." I say neither to strangers.

Oh, No...say it ain't so..! What will they rename Agatha Christie’s most popular story, "Murder on the Orient Express"? I would not be surprised if they change it to, "Mugging on the New York Subway".
