As previously mentioned, Corel Paintshop is a solid bet. One time fee, no renews, Novices can quickly learn...online assistance is copious with lots of examples & a large group of followers as well as tech support

I use Photoshop Elements. Has an easy learning curve with Quick, Guided, and Advanced editing modes. Has a great Organizer data base to add tags and make categories for quick recall of photos. Also has a ACR, WHICH IS A RAW editor. It’s about $80, no subscription required.

I use it for exactly the same reasons.

My niece in Arizona got a new computer (a PC), and her old editing program won’t run on it. I have a Mac, so I am not much help. She does casual editing, so she’s not needing a heavy-duty program. What she needs is a good program that is not too complicated and not too expensive. Family shots, get-togethers, and vacation photos are what she mostly shoots. She has a Canon SL2 and a decent zoom lens that she uses. Any suggestions that I can give her?

Before it is suggested by someone, she does not want a LR subscription.

"FED" Define "Good", define "Cheep" and how "fast" is fast. It depends on the capability and economic it depends on the individual.

Photo Shop Elements.
Best you can get for cheap and no subscription.

I use this program as my RAW scanner. It comes with documentation. I have recommended it to my teen aged grandchildren.

Its biggest drawback is that it does not have noise reduction and sharpening tools.

Affinity is an inexpensive and powerful program, but (a) it does not have a data base, (b) it has a very difficult learning curve, and (c) there is a dearth of easy to understand written instructional material available.

I second the Corel program. It is powerful and for the sale price, they are offering it would be hard to beat. I have used it for 15 years and it is fairly easy to use.

GIMP is a great alternative to Photoshop but just as hard to learn.
