I have had this lens for a year plus a 2X extender. I took it on a safari for two weeks and the pictures I got are amazing. Buy it today; keep it forever!

Do you have a full frame camea?
I have the lens and it is a great lens. It is heavy and expensive. You may want to look at the F4 version.
A lens like this is an investment, likely to out live the camera.

I have a 7D and, as I said, it is superb. Sure it is heavy but I view this as good exercise :-)

Congratulations on a fine purchase that you will never
regret and worth every penny spent.
Many photographers own a 70-200 lens, but
due to their mediocre performance they stay
on the shelf or in the bag.
The stellar performance of the f2.8II means you
will have it mounted on your camera most often, using it not only at its maximum, but for the shorter focal lens
for portraiture etc.
This shockingly performing lens is so good that I use
it together with the 2X MKIII teleconverter, a perfect
match, and get great results.

Extremely hard to fault the 70-200, any version. I have both 2.8 and 4.0 non IS lenses and LOVE the both.

I have the 70-200 f4 and love it. A lot cheaper than the f2.8 and weight is a lot less. I have try both of these great lenses and went with the f4. I have no trouble shooting in lot light, just my thoughts.

I have the 2.8 & 4 is versions. If I don't need the extra stop, I use the 4 since it is smaller & lighter. From what I understand, all versions are exceptional. Bab

I own the previous version of that lens. It is a superb performer indoors or out, fast action or still. I would think the more recent release is comparable, albeit better in some ways.

I do not own it yet but it's atop my wish list.
For all I have been learning about it is the lens of choice for lots of photographers. Ask CaptainC and MT Shooter.

Give a serious consideration to the Sigma 70-200mm f/2.8
