I also carry the Sony VII as my back up camera or when I do not want to carry my Sony Mirror less. I even use the two cameras together. I keep a 24-70 lens on the mirror less and when I need more reach I pull out the VII rather than changing the lens and risking dust spots or missing the shot. Or I can do things in reverse and put the 70-180 on the Mirror less. If you want you can link the camera to your phone for adding GPS information using the Sony imaging app. With the app you can even control the camera remotely and transfer images to your smart phone for easy processing in LR or posting on line. The camera is also able to shoot in burst mode and do just about anything a DSLR or Mirror less can do. It shoots great video as well.

The faster lens of the Sony matters, the QUALITY of the Zeiss lens matters, I use the RX10m4 ......

If the quality of the LENS of the RX100 is similar to the RX10 it is a no-brainer.....

The RX100, both the 24-70 and the 24-200 equivalent lenses, are Zeiss too. The RX10 & RX100 cameras were basically designed in parallel and shared as much technology as possible. And both sets of lenses came from Zeiss and both share the AF technology. They may look quite different from each other due to the bigger lens on the RX10, but in many other respects, they are both very similar to each other.

I love my Sony RX100 VII - there are like said earlier, not the greatest feel in your hand. I sold one once because of that, and regretted it, because no other camera has as good picture quality. So I bought another and added a grip. But it is my go to travel and drunk party camera.

I have the Sony RX100vi and the RX10iv. They are basically the same camera except for the zoom and weather sealing. They are a perfect match that compliment each other. Image quality is identical.

I have the VII and previously had the IV model. It is ideal for traveling. All the previous comments are on point. I have the hard shell case that Sony sells for it and it makes handling the camera much easier and it provides good protection. I have three extra batteries and rotate them carefully. I take this camera with me whenever I leave my house. You wonโ€™t be disappointed if you buy the VII.

I'd sure like some opinions on those who have this camera. We're traveling to Switzerland in December and I want to go light with a quality camera but not use my phone. I currently own a Lumix DMC ZS100. Nice little camera, but will the Sony be worth it for size and quality?

Just did Switzerland with the Sony and it was just about perfect. Do spend some time learning the menu if you are not already acquainted with it.

Nice shot of the Matterhorn.

Hereโ€™s a couple I took of flowers with the RX100VII when we were in Hawaii.

I forgot to mention in my post that although the Sony is pocketable, pockets are easy to pick unless you use a pocket that is hard to access which defeats the purpose. I chose a Spider belt holster, the on that clips to the belt. The lug that screws into the tripod socket must be removed to change the battery so I made sure the one I got had a hole in it to accommodate a cotter pin, (hardware store), to act as a crossbar to loosen and tighten the lug. The cotter pin can easily be attached to a key ring.

I own this camera and went out West for 3 weeks. Incredible camera. I also own the Sony RX!0M4 and it never came out of its bag! You canโ€™t go wrong with this camera!

Well folks, you "talked me into it", haha. The Sony it is.
I'll be selling my ZS100 Lumix. On a side note, KEH offered only $76! MPB offered $235. Yet used, both companies sell them used at about the same price. Just an FYI that KEH may not always be the best choice for a trade in, and worth looking around.
