I have been using MS Office 1997 since . . . yeah, since then. Until I found MS Office 2003 a few years ago at the local Salvation Army store for less than $10. Have been using it since. I would be leery of getting an up-to-date version fearing I wouldn't be able to figure it out. BTW, it works fine for me, does what I want and need.

If you are using MS Office 2003 without the Office Compatibility Pack, then you won't be able to open files created in Office 2007 and later. Perhaps you already knew about this, but if not, you can download it here, and Windows Update will apply updates to it.

LibreOffice is considered by many to be the best of ALL the "Office" products, paid or free. I don't use them, but good sources of technical usage information for Word and Excel (not free) are "Word Tips" and "Excel Tips".

I've been using LibreOffice for years.
Highly recommended.
Remember, it's free.

I've been happily using LibreOffice since it was developed by those other folks and called OpenOffice and there's no way you could interest me in M$ if they were paying me to take it (honestly, who thinks the "ribbon" was a good thing or improvement?)

Currently using MS Office Professional 2019 from one of those deals.... and ... from one of those online companies. In the past my employer had deal with Microsoft and I bought previous version directly from Microsoft for $20 each.

Things to know:

1. Know who you are dealing with on those online deals... I found a legit one but I am sure there are some that just want your credit card number

2. When you buy any 1 time purchase product (MS or or other companies) it is a version for which support has a defined lifetime of support/upgrades. That Office 2021 will reach a point , in future years, where Microsoft will no longer issue patches/etc for it (just like the Windows 2010 is not... runs out in 2025). After that point, you could be at security risk for lack of patches.

3. I have an old version of Office that wouldn't install on a new Windows PC and an old Office that would install but was buggy... over the years that will happen.

One computer at a time. You can deactivate it and activate it on another one, but you can't have it on two (Desktop+Laptop) at the same time unless you get the two license deal. You won't get the 1TB storage on your one drive as you would with Office 365. Also, it isn't going to update to a newer version when available. I'm not saying it's a bad deal, but you should know the limitations.

Since I use only one computer at a time, that sounds tempting, but would I have any use for it?

If it sounds too good to be true .... you know the rest. Going to the Microsoft website that same Office Professional 2021 suite shows for $439.99. And the numerous links to $39.00 for the same product are in the category of "too good to be true." I wouldn't touch this offer with a 10 foot pole!

I think that $439 was a typo. The $ and the 4 use the same key, and someone at MS just made a tiny mistake. 😆

Have any of you gotten this $39 deal? Stranger things have happened.

Techspot review - https://www.sitejabber.com/reviews/techspot.com#:~:text=TechSpot%20has%20a%20consumer%20rating,15th%20among%20Gaming%20PC%20sites.

EDIT: I suspect this will get you a code, rather than the program. Checking MS, they don't seem to offer a free download. Beware!

I don't think Microsoft has an income problem. I would be suspect of this deal. Looks like a scam. Let's see what feedback we get from members who buy it.

Could be my defective brain... but the link you supplied had a review of "TechSpot"... how does that relate to cheap MS Office?
