Seriously, so glad you liked this set, and so appreciate
you taking the time to give so much support to your
fellow HOGS.

True story. I was a 2-pack a day smoker, and I can't
tell you how many pictures I trashed because of what
the cigarette smoke did to the image...yes, I've been
"clean" for over 10 years, and yes, I can hold my
breath so much longer now.

Both sets are terrific. I love the waterfalls and the skyscapes.

A few weeks ago we did a "Stop the Action" challenge. This challenge is the opposite - using a slow shutter speed to create movement. The technique is frequently seen as "velvet water" but includes other photographic techniques such as light trails. If you have iPhone 6S or later you have the ability to produce long exposure "velvet" motion (I'll demonstrate during the challenge for those who may not be aware of the feature). As always, its a combination of ISO, aperture, and shutter speed that produces the effect. Tripods work best for shutter speeds longer than 1/60 (some can do 1/30). Bracing yourself and or the camera against a stable surface can sometimes be sufficient, but results may not be the best.

So, let's see some slow shutter motion

Maybe overdoing it on the sparkle effect. Plus, rust never sparkles.

These were taken in March. I didn't know the carnival was there and wasn't properly prepared. I didn't have a tripod or a remote for the shutter with me. My kids got a laugh at me leaned over the car trying to brace my shots and hold the camera steady. All things considered, they turned out better than I expected.
I went back the next night with all of the gear I needed but the carnival was shut down and packed up.

I use to spend my summers at the Petersburg Battlefield. I wanted to catch the muzzle flash of the canon but was having trouble. One day one of the gunners told me the secret - slow shutter speed. The result is here. This is a scanned slide and the speed was not recorded.

That's a very nice collection of fireworks photos, Pat. So many entries so far have shown a great imagination, too. I do have a small number of fireworks that I made with a Canon digital elf model, in 2014. I took all of them one evening using the auto setting, handheld, just as guesswork and a few came out pretty good. For all the ones I can get data on, the settings were: 1 sec at f3, but ISO is unknown.
