I wanted to buy memory for my computer. Both Amazon and B&H have 32GB of Crucial for $111.99. Amazon charges sales tax ($8.96) and, with the Payboo credit card, B&H doesn't. Easy decision. You might want to get the B&H card.

You might remember that my desktop would not work because one of the memory sticks had a messed up contact. It ran fine with just one 16GB stick. However, in examining the contacts on that one, I saw an area where several of the gold contacts had come off.

Jerry . . . I always read your posts so thanks.

May I ask you how the heck contacts on stationary memory sticks within a computer can have their contacts fail via a mechanical failure of attached electrical contacts? I've never seen or heard of this happening.

The computer guy said it does happen. I brought it to him last March, and he got it working, despite the slight corrosion. This time, the corrosion was beyond saving. Now the other stick has gone bad. The computer can run with those contacts messed up, but I'm starting fresh. G.Skill Ripjaws. I won't be buying them again.

Almost $400! My son orders from them, too - same account.

Correction! Correction!

I just received the two Crucial memory sticks I ordered from B&H yesterday. Each one has what I thought was a defect in the area of the contacts. Apparently, that's the way they're supposed to be. Below is the picture of the memory from the B&H site. Notice the contact area near the center, next to the cutout.

What's wrong with paying taxes? You want that ambulance available don't you?

I don't think that question requires an answer. We have volunteer ambulance and fire departments here. Otherwise, you get a large bill from the ambulance company.

Not sure if you've ever looked into OWC (Other World Computing). Great service.

I should have said this earlier. When you use the Payboo card, the taxes get paid, but I don't pay them. Payboo and B&H work it out somehow.

My Payboo card expired due to lack of use. I just placed an order with B&H and got a new Payboo card. Easy Peezy, just took a minute to input the info for a new card.

Bad boy! I haven't used my Amex card in many years, yet they are keeping it active.

Whenever I want something electronic from Amazon, I check with B&H. I wonder if they'll drop me because I never pay interest.

Is that the way your bad RAM stick looked? (they all look like that)

Hello
I have been doing IT for over 30 plus years and have never comes this type of issue. I build and work on them from desktops, laptops, and servers and this is something I have never seen. I mean memory can go bad, and you just replace it and move on.
