Do any of you use WordPerfect? I've been using it snice about 1980. When I had to decide what word processing program to get for my IBM desktop, I did what I do now: a lot of research. In every comparison, WP was better than Word. I'm not working in an environment with other people using Word, so I don't have to be compatible, although both programs are basically compatible with each other.
As I was exiting WP yesterday, they had an offer of an update for $39.99 (down from $99.99), so now I have a new version of the Home edition with a few changes. Ironically, I was disappointed the day before when I tried to buy it from Amazon for $70, but it didn't go through - fortunately.
Mac’s Pages is hard to beat, too.
Is Word Perfect still around?????

Before Microsoft created a virtual monopoly on most popular desktop applications, WordPerfect and Lotus 1-2-3, in my opinion, were far superior to Word & Excel. I never cared for database applications, but it would not surprise me if Dbase versions were preferred by users over Microsoft’s.

I still use the 2 versions of WordPerfect for DOS. The 5.1 and 6.2. I don't use any of the Windows version.
I also still have Lotus 123 version 2.2, 2.3, 3.4 for DOS.

Somewhere I still have a copy of dBase IV, developer's version.
I doubt it will run on Win 11...
I might even have a copy of dBase for Windows, albeit old.....
I loved dBase!

Thanks, interesting to know.
I used to prefer Word Perfect, but try sending a WP document to somebody else!!! Same thing with DBaseIV. That was a powerfull program and could do great things but was cast aside when all the Microsoft software took over.

This is Dbase IV version 1.1 running on Windows 10. As far as I know Windows 11 comes with the same Hyper V.

When I worked for the City of Dallas, I would input our division's spending data that I was immediately aware of by category into DBaseIV. Then I could go into the City's computer to capture anything that was missed or categories that I wouldn't have access to such as electric or gas expenditures. The City would put out an expenditure vs. budget report on a monthly basis, but I could keep up with it on a daily basis. When the department budget director asked for our year end projected expenditures a few months before year's end, several year's in a row I came within 0.5% of the actual figure. One thing I was able to do was go back to the previous year's expenditures which I had input on DBaseIV, compare them with the current year's expenditure and extrapolate, expecially in the areas of utilities and personnel.

I never knew how to use it really. I know the spreadsheet and wordprocessor but never good with database software. But I have a copy of Dbase as well as the competing package at that time which was Paradox.

I wrote test programs for integrated circuits and semiconductors for incoming the incoming inspection department. I had them buy dBase-IV. I built a database to track rejection and disposition notices (RDNs) for the material that we bought.
It worked out so well that purchasing, systems test, card test, and another department or two wanted to be able to use the database. We wound up getting a 10 user network license...
It was so much fun to code DB-IV.
(I just can't retire from coding... I still write my own website code by hand.)
Yes, there was Paradox and also Clipper. I never used Paradox. I toyed with Clipper, but I new Dbase-IV almost inside-out.
