Need an ICC profile for either the Epson P700 or P900

I have purchased a Epson Pro 700 and loaded all the Epson profiles that came with the software pack. However, the Epson Hot Press Natural ICC profile is not listed. I have contacted Epson and they suggested to re-load the software. I did that and it is not there. I contacted Epson again and have never heard back.

So, does anyone have the ICC profile for the Epson Hot Press Natural paper for a Epson P700 or a Epson P900? They will work on either one as the ink sets are the same.

Thanks in advance.

Look over the attached PDF. It may help as I had a similar problem and this is a summary of Epson's Instructions.

Thanks for your reply and PDF. I should have stated that I am a PC user but it really does not matter. On page 5 of your PDF you show a list of ICC profiles for your P900 and you marked off some near the top of that page. Just above that is the profiles I am looking for...the Hot Press Natural and Cold Press.

If you could send me a copy of those It will solve my problem as the ICC profiles of the P700 & P900 are the same and work on both PC's and Mac's.

Thanks.

I don't have a problem with my Red River paper ICC profiles which work fine. Just the Epson ones that are missing when I installed the software that came with the printer. It gave me 15 Epson profiles, none for the Hot or Cold press papers that they still sell.

I even went onto the Australian Epson website to see if was there. It was not, but I was able to pickup four (4) more Epson ICC profiles that were not in the Epson US files. Go Figure.

And to make matters worse, I have contacted Epson twice and both times the told me to re-install the software that I used before with no results.

Take Care and thanks for your response.

Thanks for the copy. It is interesting that the profile came with the P900 and not with the P700 when both use the same profiles. Also, the naming structure is a little different but is for the correct printer/paper combination.

I was in contact with Epson twice and both times they suggested reloading the software which includes the ICC profiles. I have loaded it three (3) times in hopes that they have updated the software to include a new profile. No such luck.

This reminded me of the saying "The definition of Insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results".

Thanks again for all your help. I will test the profile and get back to with the results.

Well, that did not work. Not sure what the problem is.

I loaded the ICC profile you sent and my Windows version of Lightroom CC would not show your profile (225416-c_p900-700hotpressnatural.icc). When that did not work, I renamed it to EpsonSC-900_700HotPressNatural.icc which is the way the profiles show on my Lightroom CC and is the way that it shows on Robert Hartung’s PDF that he posted on UHH. Robert has a Mac running a Epson P900 printer. After renaming the profile It showed up in the Lightroom and worked when soft proofing. I then went to print and found that it did not show up on the Media Type in the Epson SC-P700 Properties panel. The Hot Press Natural should have been in the Fine Art Paper section. I also checked all the other paper types to no avail. Note that I rebooted the computer after each change.

Any idea why this is not working?

Have you used Epson Print Layout Software? It's more versatile than what you get from your editor or print viewer.

You can use any ICC profile with any media type, even when it might seem inappropriate such as a glossy ICC profile with a matte paper type (when printing on matte paper). The media type selection (which should match the paper type) and ICC profiles are actually independent of each other.

I have used it to compare the results for ICC profiles with different papers, even papers that don't publish their own profiles.

Here are some of the test results I got.

Thanks! I downloaded it and will give it a try. In the mean time I am reaching out to Epson USA once more. Wish me luck.

Last time I tried to get some technical support from them I got asked to pay for it. I declined.

OK, I found it on Epson Australia's site. The printer numbers are slightly differnt but they are the same printer. Here is the link:

Why can't Epson USA/Canada make it this easy to find? I have wasted three (3) whole days trying to find this profile.

I want to wrap up this thread (rant) on the lack of an Epson (Professional Signature) Hot Press Natural paper icc profile for the Epson P700. The following facts hopefully will help others.
• The Epson P700 (North American version) Installation software does NOT ship with the profile to support their own Epson Hot Press Natural (paper) icc profile
• The Epson P700 printer touch screen does NOT list the Hot Press Natural paper as an option under the Paper Settings\Paper Type
• Yet the Epson P900 which is the big brother to the P700 does have this profile
• It should be noted that the P700 & P900 both use the same ink formula and therefore share the same icc profiles
• Epson still sells this paper in North America
• Epson Australia sells a model P706 & P906 which are the same a North America P700 &P900 and they list a Hot Press Natural icc profile for both of those machines.
• The Epson Australia website also has this icc profile for download where Epson North America does NOT
• I have contacted Epson North America three (3) times on this issue and twice they suggested that I reload the installation software that came with the printer (SCP700_Comb_NA.exe). I have done this three times in hopes that they updated the software to include this profile. But they have not. They have yet to respond to my last email.
• For some reason Epson North America has decided not to support their own Hot Press Natural paper where Epson Australia has.
• Epson North America decision cannot be based on additional costs to develop new code to support this paper because it already exists in Australia (P706) and North America (P900).
• I have loaded both the P706 and P900 icc profile for the Epson Hot Press paper and tested them (at my own risk) on my P700 and both worked while soft proofing in Lightroom CC and printing. It should be noted that because the printer touch screen does not support this paper, I had to use Velvet Fine Art paper (19 mil) as it was the closest paper in thickness to the Hot Press Natural (17mil) and is matte paper.
Conclusion:
Epson Management’s decision to not support their own paper on the P700 only leaves me with one option and that is to use up my current stock of Epson Hot Press Natural paper and then use Red River’s equivalent paper.
