Two down and at least three to go. I think it may make SOME difference in sonic enjoyment :) It's the RP-600Mii, which I got on sale at 40% off the normal price (found at the Klipsch site) and ordered them from B&H so I could use my PayBoo card to save on the tax.

Nice speakers - enjoy them - I remember them from the 70's but they were out of my price range then.
Now that I can afford them, I am not able to hear the quality they produce - too many hours in the aviation field in the Navy (P3's - S3's - H2/H3's) and carriers pretty much wiped out my high freq range and gave me tinnitus - so listen to el-cheapo's now...

I have tinnitus, too and some assorted frequency problems, too (flight training in 152s w/out headphones?, mowing a 2 1/2 acre yard?, concerts or UPS work?) but I still wanted an upgrade. Too bad Medicaid doesn't cover hearing aids. Now I need to buy some speaker stands to put them on and move my bookcases..hummpfff!

Good deals sound better to the ear...

I've got the K 600m's as my desktop speakers right now.
Just a few EQ bumps in the right place...sonic magic.

Enjoy!

I was thinking of buying an old EQ, unless I can figure out how to do it in my Denon AVR. I know you can change x-overs and such and I THINK using Audessey (sp?) room correction helped initially since my 20-year-old previous receiver had no such feature. I might try bi-amping at some point. Some people says it makes a difference and some think it's just snake oil. PS anyone want to buy a Sony STR-DE845??

Bi-amping is a possibility with the Klipsch'...but honestly...unless you are installing really high end gear (which is actually extremely difficult to put together properly)...don't bother.

Having said that I have something along those lines...two monoblocks...which I have yet to try out. I'm still playing around with 3 sets of new speakers...4 new dacs...3 new preamps...3 new amps, and two monoblocks to boot...and of course...2 headphone amps... Some tubed...some not.

Just playing musical roulette.

If you have a non computer linked stereo setup...like most of us folks do or used to...get a dedicated EQ.
I use software since it is my desktop...but my den stereo has one...it simply works with everything you play.

The only thing I have that you have is one new pair of speakers and 4 old ones (including sub) and a new AVR. I didn't even know that headphones had special amps and I've never used a DAC, preamp or extra amp. Back when I was in high school I did have an EQ, though. I've spent too much (but not enough) money on travel and cameras and lenses.

It may not make much (any?) difference, but since I finally have some nice speakers I'm going to buy some banana plugs today at Amazon so I can re-hook them up that way rather than sing bare wire. I've heard that it can help by reducing corrosion in the cable and giving a better connection and I also re-ran Audyssey last night. The first time with my old speakers it said my sub was too quiet. This time it was too loud...go figure. I do need to get some speaker stands at some point, though. One speaker is on a TV tray table and the other is on my old receiver on a cushioned dining-room-style chair. I looked at ETSY a day or two ago for some nice wood ones. They're pretty pricy, but I don't really like the look of the metal ones sold at various superstores.

Same with me plus loss due to target shooting without ear protection (hey, it was the 60’s when we didn’t have seat belts, either). I purchased JBLs because they had the best high frequency response of any speakers and partially made up for my handicap. My friends preferred the “rich” sound of Bose and Bozak so I turned the JBL’s treble down when they came over.
