Yeah he can get rid of the 610 and the 7000. The D750 would do whatever the D610 can. The D850 can do 19MP DX images no probem so he doesn't need the D7000.

Do either of you know what he does with the cameras? I have 4 bodies and use all of them when I'm covering a show. Maybe he has a reason for what he has? Just sayin'....

Just purchased and received a used Nikon D850 from a very reputable Photography Store/chain in Canada.
Great price camera, less than 1/3 of a new one, looks brand new, not a scratch anywhere however I have just confirmed that it has been well used, the shutter count is 228,795, Hmmm
So far the D850 is working as expected.
I have a 90day money back warranty.
Any thoughts? Keep of return?

For now anyway, Nikon will be able to replace that shutter for about $300-400. But no one knows when Nikon will stop supporting repairs on the D850. Not a real expensive repair.

Perhaps the best money spent is when you get your refund. I would send it back. Look elsewhere and spend maybe a few dollars more.

Judging from your concern, I think that this will bother you no matter what. Were it me, I'd return it immediately and buy one that I'm comfortable with. It's not worth losing sleep over. Spend a few extra bucks and rest easy.

I would return it. That's a lot of it's life used up and no way to know if you have 1 click left or 1 million.

Have you looked at refurbished? They are checked over by a tech and the one I received when I purchased a refurbished D810 had 176 on the shutter. I have been very pleased with it.

Yes, I would return it. When I buy used cameras, I always ask for an exact shutter count. I want something other than "not used much." Refurbished bodies don't come with a shutter count, but the ones I have boughy had very few clicks - as low as five. : )

I find it to be quite strange that folks think nothing about buying a used automobile with well over 100,000 miles that they trust their lives in which over time will most likely need brakes, tires, battery, shocks, exhaust, and other repairs yet there is concern over a camera that they will only use occasionally that may need a replaceable shutter some day.

Thanks for your thoughts.
In Ontario,Canada A new D850 lists at $2900.00 USD , sale price $2500.00 USD , Used go for $1850.00 USD , Im good with my decision, a failing shutter is not the end of the world, I can always have it repaired or buy another.
As a camera enthusiast I just thought id run it up the flag ploe and get some imput.
Thanks again :)

If your D850 looks good cosmetically I think you should keep it. You don't really know how long the shutter is going to last.

That would be far to much usage for my comfort. If the camera was placed in service when the D850 was first introduced, that would equate to some 125 shots per day--Sundays and holidays included. That's a lot of usage and it would be too much for me. The D850 is a great camera, but if it were I, I'd look for one with lower mileage.

CDS, Given the quality build of the 850, if the camera were in my grasp I'd hang onto it. We have several bodies that were obtained with over 250K to over a million releases, all still working well. Nikon can advise if they've ever serviced the camera and might provide a checkup for you, at cost, but replacing the shutter at this point is the same as an overhaul, at full price, but you would get a 6-month warranty, if they haven't changed that policy. Good luck, enjoy the camera.

That's pretty high. Might last quite a long time though. How much for a shutter replacement from Nikon or authorized Nikon service center? =$400-500 = keep it.
