I like #1 - maybe just a wee bit lighter, maybe not. Number 2 nice framing and color, but it seems atilt - very common with tall building, It could be straigtened very easily in Photoshop or most editing program. I would go for a tighter crop and lose the white lines on the top of the tower; guessing flood lights. #3 - clever framing, good timing - might lack a little for sharpness. Did you use manual focus pre train on the poster if not I could see how automatic might have gotten confused. Nice selection - thanks for sharing.
You have a keen eye for composition and seem to prefer working in low light and rich color. Just took a slideshow tour of your Europe trip and marvel at most of your captures. I notice the same photos here look a bit lighter in your smugmug album. Great work! What software do you use for post processing?
good shots, and i like your sense of humor.
Hey Glen. Thank you for the kind words. I use Lightroon and Photoshop and Nik software plug-ins. I also subscribe to Kelby training. It's a great resource.
Have a good week. Jaime

Glen. I just looked at your smug mug and am very impressed. The rodeo shots are amazing. I mean magazine quality. Don't be a stranger. Nice work.
Thanks Jaimie ..... I also use photoshop & have been experimenting with the trial version of lightroom 3. For my initial RAW work I use Nikon Capture, which is an old version and I thought rather than upgrade it I'd go to Lightroom instead. I have been enjoying the many conveniences of Lightroom but there seems to be a redundancy with the light/darkening features and I'm having trouble getting the "look" I want. I'm still thinking of making the purchase though (I see Amazon has it for $144) because it could just be I need much more practice with it. .......... as for Photoshop, I went to CS5 from Elements 7 last spring because I wanted to work with "masks" that elements didn't seem to have, although the "layers" features don't seem to be much different. Still learning CS5 ... I'm impressed with the exposure adjustments that can be achieved with layers/masks.
I barely use photoshop as their ACR raw module is exactly like Lightroom's development module. I only use Photoshop for headshots and portraits because of the layering and masks. For me, Lightroom does it all. Seriously though, check out the Matt Kloskowski podcast Lightroom Killer Tips also check him out on Kelbytraining.com. You'll see exactly what that program can do and how powerful it is. Have fun.
Thanks for the tip. I will check it out.
Oh, also Lightroom loads directly to Smugmug. No need to convert or make another folder. It generates a temp and then eliminates it when you upload. Pretty cool.
Sounds like something I could use :)
