I never realized it was so hard to defend the No 1 topic starter ranking!

A badge of honor! And I, for one, always enjoy what Jerry has to say.

Leaking is rarely if ever a problem with Li-Ion batteries. Swelling can be an issue, making it nearly impossible at times to remove it from the camera. Even that is relatively rare.

Years ago, I had a light meter with a Mercury Oxide
Battery. It leaked and the screw cover was sealed. The manufacturer told me by using a third party battery, I voided the warranty. When I finally removed the cover, they don’t make Mercury batteries anymore. It was a good thing I got the meter at a garage sale for 5 dollars.
But I am aware that batteries might leak and sometimes swell. Lately, the mirrorless trend has sucked all the OEM batteries off the shelf.

You are right on the money, and it's obvious you get it.

The topic of generic vs OEM batteries came up again yesterday. That encouraged me to do a search. You can buy two generic EN-EL 15b batteries with a charger for $33. Or, see below for other battery prices. Yes, I realize that the construction of each is different, but still.

I found Nikon OEM Batteries on eBay brand new for roughly $30.00. It was gray market but OEM Nikon. It works fine. OEM lasts and lasts others do not IMHO.
