THANKS for your response.

I have been a NIKON user since 1970 when I got my first one when I was in the service of R and R in Japan and since then I have owned 10 different models with the last one being the D850.

I know you said you loved your Sony a9......what are your thoughts on the Sony A1.

The a1 is my new camera. I have not usedit much because I move to Florida for 6 months in Nov. The main reason for it is 30fps RAW. I shoot bif a d that rate RAW is mandatory for me.

Use z9, 850 and 500. I am an amateur with many years of experience. The z9 is an exceptional camera and I enjoy using it and learning new ways to improve my photography and beginning ti try my hand at more videography. I primarily shoot grandchildren, landscape and wildlife with a little emphasis on catching spontaneous grandkid portraits. I really like my z9. Almost all my f mount work better with the z9 than the dslrs.

I should have added this to my post about lenses for my Z9. The only Z mount lenses I own are the 24-200mm S and the 100-400mm S lens. I use my older F mount lenses on my Z9, especially the long prime teles and my Nikon macro lenses. .

Had one, but my Sony a9 out tracked it for birds in flight so I sold it.

I have used Nikon professionally for well over 50 years. It pained me to move to Sony. But I now shoot exclusively wildlife and birds in flight. It is a shame but the z9 still cannot compete with my a9 when it comes to tracking a bird at a distance and coming in and out of foliage. Yes, the z9 is excellent at many other venues and the colors are great. But for now Sony and Canon are producing superior cameras for extreme birds in flight.
Nikon has promoted a 200-600 for years. I have been using my Sony 200-600 for two years now. It is the sharpest Tele zoom I have ever used. Nikon where are you?

My Z9 is unbelievable on birds I can hand hole on my Z100-400mm on a bird and it locks on the eye of the bird. Very Very happy with it

Traded my D5, D500, D810 for Z6II & Z9. Never looked back. They both are GREAT and would not go back.
