Stanikon--You said "legally" raise the price?

Blue Bell still has full half-gallons but you're right, most of them are now going that way. It's a very sneaky way to legally raise the price without most people noticing. I try to avoid companies that do that but when they all do it you have no choice.
What does "legally raising the price" mean. Can you raise the price on coffee and packaged goods illegally?

As for the coffee, just be glad there is an aluminum seal and it wasn't cut. As someone else said, coffee is often used to try to confuse the dogs. Sad to say this is just an example of the world today and the inspectors doing their job. I would try to avoid receiving coffee through the mail.
The seal is there, and I can see that there is a vacuum inside - (not the Hoover kind).
Amazon has been sending me coffee for years. This is the first glitch.

Illegally would be done (and has been done) by reducing the quantity while keeping the same amount on the label. In the case of coffee, for example, putting 13 oz of coffee in a can labeled 1 lb. That constitutes false advertising and deceptive trade practices.

See my reply to Ollieboy.

That would have to be considered price gouging, and that is illegal.

Price gouging is one form of illegally raising prices but not the only form.

Is this a joke? There's no such thing.
My pet peeve around here, Northern Maryland, is the advertised 1 lb bacon sold in 12oz packages. When I mentioned it to a lady in the store, it went right over her head. She had no idea that she was getting 3/4 of a pound.

Speaking of quantities getting smaller, has anyone noticed my favorite drink, Gatorade, now comes in 28oz containers in place of the 32oz containers of the past. And if the price has changed, it has actually increased - we get to pay more for less???
I JUST noticed that - I do not ordinarily drink Gatorade, but I am scheduled for everyone's favorite test this week (a colonoscopy). Instructions to mix the prep with two 32 ounce bottles of Gatorade - I discovered it doesn't come that way any more! So - what about a 64-ounce bottle of lemonade - oh - wait - they are now 59 ounces! Holy crap....

UPS delivered my 30.65 oz container of Maxwell House yesterday. The box had been cut open and resealed …
I’m not sure why the box was cut open and resealed other than the ground coffee throwing drug dogs scent off. But why was the original container not opened as well.
Since moving from New Orleans, to New England, my wife and I missed the rich full flavor of Community Coffee. We found the brand was not sold in any of the local stores, we decided to buy it via mail order, directly from the roaster, in Baton Rouge. It comes to us by UPS, in a box. The coffee is packaged in a heat sealed in a vacuum packed Mylar bag. The Mylar bag is much thicker than on a candy bar. Community packages the coffee in several size bags, I order the 46 oz size, in dark roast. The bags are also resealable, by quick seal. They sell coffee at different roast levels, and even with chicory. Never had a opened package on arrival, only well sealed boxes.
Try Uncommon Grounds out of Saratoga Springs (they also have shops in Albany and Clifton Park). They have several flavors, roast their own, will custom grind or send whole beans and they sell in 16 oz. "pounds." If you order $50 or more, you even get free shopping. I used to live in Saratoga County, now live in Pa. so it is now a "taste of home" for me.
A smaller bag of coffee works for me. I make single cups of coffee. By the time I get to the bottom of my smaller bag I'm ready for some fresh coffee.

Yes, I found the same thing, so I had extra Gatorade. I used a gallon milk container for the mixture. If you are using the same prep that I used, it's the best one I've taken. The doctor said that he had developed what he thought was the best prep. As far as I'm concerned, it is the best. I felt very good leaving his office afterwards. I'm sure I could have driven myself home.
One funny thing - the nurse was a member of my local ukulele group. She knows me better than she used to.
