The earlier post suggested 45-150. I think that might have been a typo, I have not seen that lens.

I believe that is a Lumix (Panasonic Lens)

It is indeed, and all Lumix Micro 4/3 lenses work* on all Olympus/OMDS cameras, and vice-versa. Details:

*Minor differences in performance may exist in some cases, such as image stabilization and AF function. But the lenses will mount and focus.

My apologies, but I just remembered that the Oly 12-100mm f:4.0 Pro will not work with the Oly teleconverters. Another good choice would be Oly 40-150mm f:2.8 Pro, which does work with the teleconverters (1.4 & 2.0), but it does not have in-lens image stabilization. Tradeoffs will part of your decision.

Later this month I get a chance to take the VIA ‘Canadian’ from Toronto Ontario to Vancouver British Columbia.

While the train does not stop for long at any particular place it does have those ‘dome’ cars allowing you to capture some of the scenery as you travel across the country. I will spend time in Vancouver and then on Vancouver island in Victoria.

I could really appreciate some advice on the lenses I should take with me. One lens people suggest is the 12-200 but I do not own that lens. I would consider buying it but stock is such that it would arrive too late for my trip.

Thanks,
Ron

Bill at Burkphoto does provide another suggested setup. You will lose ILIS and the ability to shoot wider than 12mm. There will probably not be that many shots past 12mm. But you will gain one stop of light and still get above 200mm and up to 300mm with the 1.4X and 2X teleconverters. This could be a lighter setup than the one Hip Coyote and I suggested while only losing a little range on the wide and telephoto ends. Worthwhile thinking about.

I have all of the same lenses you do. It depends on how much you want to haul around (and worry about) and what the trip is for. If it's a photography-centric trip, fill your boots. If it's a vacation for you and your wife, take as little camera equipment as possible. I'd take the OM-1, 12-100mm f4, 8mm f1.8 and perhaps a 17mm f1.8. The last 2 lenses are fast aperture, the 8mm can be defished to very wide angle rectilinear views, the 17mm f1.8 is tiny and unobtrusive plus you can shoot HHHR with the 12-100mm and get really excellent results. My 2 cents worth.

Lots of good advice. The lightest system is just a body and the 12-100 lens. It also can do 1/2 lifesize too. Adding a smaller even wider angle lens will be the next lightest system. Bill at Burkphoto's suggestion is the next up with the 12-40 and 40-150. With the 1.4X teleconverter your 35mm angle of view is 24 to 420 which may be your best weight/range/aperture choice. Then there is Hip Coyote's and my suggestion. Hip Coyote suggestion would have three lenses, teleconvertor, and a body. And I suggested possibly adding another body and the 12-40 as backup. Again, it comes down to balancing the trip's purpose against range and weight you will be willing to take. You have all the "pieces" for the system you decide to take.

The response to my question has been amazing, not only have members made some incredible suggestions, I have learned considerably more in the process. Thanks to all who took the time to help me out. Ron

Ron, let us know what your choice ended up being (after your trip - you'll probably second guess yourself several times before you actually leave!).

i use the Olympus system. I have thew 12-100 Pro and a Panasonic 100-400. I have luged both with me to Ireland twice, Greece, The Grand Canyon and Maine over the past 3 years. Result: I have used the 12-100 over 90% of the time! Just my experience for what it is worth.
