I’m looking for a way to back up my photos when on a long, extended trip that doesn’t require a computer. I’m old and trying to lighten the load. Does anyone know of a portable SSD device that has a slot for an SD card and internal power? I searched B&H and couldn’t find anything. Any other suggestions would be most welcome.

This is a solution that depends on how big a hard drive you have.

I wonder how old that is. He’s using a 240GB drive. I have a WD MyPassort WiFi that’s 2TB.

Here’s your answer. This device simply backs up files from an SD card to another drive. No computer needed. In my case I used a 1tb ssd card. Quite simple.

I use it too. Small and convenient

Maybe it's just me, but it wasn't too see and control my backups. I would never really on something that you put a card into and it copies the card. No way to know for sure it got copied and not messed up.

I would rather, if I don't want to carry my lap top, just carry a lot of cards. By saving the photos to both cards in the camera, I have two copies. If camera only has one slot, the a computer goes, no other option..

Just me, I am guess. Maybe I'm to paranoid.

An iPad and external drive works as well…although it does require a double transfer from the card to the iPad and thence to the external.

If you have a internet connection anytime of the day you can back them up to Google or One Drive. There are several good backup sites. I personally use my NAS and then that backs up to my ASUS cloud which costs me 12.00 a year per gig. I have 5 gig from a special when I got my laptop where I got 5 gig for 25.00 per year.

Thanks. I am trying to eliminate carrying anything like that because I often do not have access to even a cellphone signal let own an internet connection for a couple of days.

If you use Nikon you can use snapbridge and transfer the photos to your phone then the cloud. Snapbridge used to be trouble some but the latest version works well for me. It will take some time. I have also set my second card as backup or a copy of my first card then keep both cards and put new ones in. That gives me 2 copies of my photos. Yes you have to buy several cards but they don't cost that much especially if you don't need ultra fast. I will say snapbridge will be slow.

Capacity. It's a hub, card and bread drive reader, with 5g network also. No capacity. Just s way to transfer files through a hub or internet.

It’s just a hub that is the means to transfer your images from the card to whatever hard drive you connect it to.

LaCie has a 4tb on Amazon under$300.00. The rugged HHD series usb-c and SD slot. No need to carry a lot of other gear.

OK, thank you- I just didn't pick up on that. Would be cool if it did have storage though...
