A sunrise walk on the beach

This is getting into the time of year that reminds us of why we live in Florida (yes - I KNOW it is still hurricane season!). 72 degrees on the beach this morning at sunrise. Low tide - ideal for walking. Taken with iPhone 14 Pro. (The iPhone 14 automatically does an HDR image when needed).

There are perks to living near the beach.

Yes, one of those perks includes evacuating when hurricanes are on the horizon. I have been living on the west coast of Florida this summer, near Sarasota.

My wife and I along with an elderly neighbor left our homes to move inland for 3-4 days while Hurricane Ian moved through. We were on the interstate for four hours to drive less than 100 miles.

We were lucky this time but the people in Sanibel and Fort Meyers were not. Many of these people had no insurance as it is either too expensive or not available.

Not sure if I will stay for the next one. And it will come at some point.
