County fairs are a uniquely American celebration of farm life and agriculture held during the end of the growing season in late summer and early autumn, featuring animals, farm equipment exhibits, produce and craft competitions, and of course, rides and food, food, food!! Sooo ... this week show us the fairs you've enjoyed this summer and in the past. I'll start things off with some shots of the Columbiana County Fair here in Ohio.
I've been looking forward to this challenge, Sue. I'll start with some animal antics. A popular event is watching the Sheep Dog Events - listening to commands, the dogs are to herd the sheep through several gates and eventually into a pen. These sheep had a mind of their own, went their own way and started down the track totally away from the infield.
Ready and waiting
These sheep were off to see the world!
One of my favorites - reggae locks!

Wow!! Terrific action shots - I've never been to a rodeo but that's definitely on my bucket list!
I got to experience the truck pull competition at this year's Columbiana County fair - totally cool with noise and black smoke spewing from the trucks! The last shot is of the afternoon sun shining through all the exhaust and dust pollution - the EPA would NOT be amused!
Alaska doesn't have counties. It has boroughs instead. So the best I can do is provide a few photos from a state fair held in the Matanuska Valley an hour's drive east of Anchorage in the mid-'90s. Here they are:

"State fair" - "county fair" - they're all great fun! Nice shots - love the misty mountains in the background. Thanks for sharing!
