www.thegreatcourses.com ordered this set of 24 lectures ( 30 min. each ) by Joel Sartore of National Geographic Magazine , I`m hoping to fill in all the holes in my knowledge of photography (lack of knowledge is probably more correct ). I`ve been shooting for about 10 years but have only recently, last year, picked up my first DSLR, a Canon T3i and mostly I`ve been wandering around in the dark so I hope these DVDs will round out my knowledge and teach me cohesively how to be a much more serious photographer instead of simple trial & error. Only $69.95, cheap compared to the cost of any camera accessories. At the very least ,I`ll get to see hundreds of Joel Sartore`s great photos, that`s worth somethin`, I guess.

My wife and I just completed lectures 7 and 8. Fabulous series!

I have offered to my camera club to play them as workshops. So far no answer.

I just ordered the same set and have already watched them...you'll love them. I plan to use them as references. Great set and he obviously knows his "stuff."
Besides that, Mr. Sartore seems like such a nice person.

I just watched the CBS segment...it just reinforced my feeling that this man (and his family) are very special people. We all have so much to be thankful for. Thanks for sending the link.

I have used lesson 1 through 8 and found them to be excellent. The earlier lessons may be on more of a beginner level than I was looking for. They were, however, very well done and should be very valuable to beginners and new photographers.

Even though I haven't finished the set, I'm comfortable recommending them. The sale price is only $69.95 for 24 half hour lessons. That's a bargain - less than $3 per lesson. Check out the details at this link: http://www.thegreatcourses.com/tgc/courses/course_detail.aspx?cid=7901

I'm really looking forward to the rest of the lessons.

I may write them and ask permission to use some of the lessons at our camera club.
