There have been many great jazz pianists, but Art Tatum is probably the greatest of them all. BTW, he was essentially blind from youth.
He is unmatched in speed and dexterity in his runs as he improvised. Oscar Peterson was close, but Tatum was #1.

Tatum rarely played with other musicians in an ensemble. It's been said that the was so fast and creative that he was hard to accompany. Truly a soloist.
