The link leads tons of video reviews, some of them long term. Knock yourself out with them.

Thank You
For some reason I didn’t think to go to YouTube

I have been using Epson printers forever but am wondering what else to consider. My 11 year old Photo R3000 needs a $400 repair, so I'm thinking of getting a new one and the nearest repair center requires UPS at $35 each way.
The 13" Epson P700 is also $799 like my R3000 was originally.
But which: HP, Canon, or again Epson.
Epson inks cost $35 per cartridge and the number of inks per printer increases, so its a serious expense.
Anyone out in UHH-land with a good strategy ?

If you want quality photo prints, there are only two brands to consider: Epson and Canon. HP no longer offers a photo quality inkjet.

If you want another 13" wide printer, there are only a total of four to consider, two each from Canon and Epson: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/compare/Canon_PRO-300_vs_Canon_PRO-200_vs_Epson_ET-8550_vs_Epson_P700/BHitems/1573781-REG_1602503-REG_1639048-REG_1558223-REG

Note: Canon has a couple more 13" wide printers, but they use fewer than 6 inks, which I consider the bare minimum. While Canon claims they are photo-capable, I would seriously doubt it! One of those printers uses five inks, the other only four.

EPSON.
no question if you print high quality photos and want consistent results.
Yes,the inks are expensive...but about the same can be said for CANON.

CANON printers, the higher quality ink jets, are notorious for problems.

NOT using a cartridge is actually worse than using it. Epson Ink contains volatile chemicals that evaporate over time. Hence, the cartridges have a shelf life of about two years. So use the printer and change the cartridges when the message indicates. If you keep multiple spares, rotate them and use the ones with the nearest expiration dates printed on the box. Use within six months of opening. Advice from a pro user... I put three 44" Epsons in a pro lab.

When I order my Epson inks I don’t look at the price and submit the order before I have to think about it. This doesn’t make it cheaper but keeps the pain of it from getting to me too much.

Woww.......that's funny. I thought I was the only one who do that.

What is upsetting with Epson is that they monitor your machine (if it's of recent vintage) and detect if you are not using their cartridges. They then remotely shut your printer down until you again use their over-priced ink.

Come on Man! No remotely shut down. All Epson/Canon wide format Pro printers I have used monitors the specific ink cartridges they manufacture with chips in their cartridges. Have to buy OEM unless you find a third party supplier. That’s how they make way more money than just the what the printer cost. Unfortunately

Not True! Don’t generalize unless you have actually used a Canon “high quality” printer. I have No problems with mine

My "rule of thumb" is that if something costs half (or close) to repair, I replace it rather than have it repaired. A repaired item is still x - number of years old and an unrelated problem could demand additional repairs in a short period of time. With a new piece of equipment you get a full year, sometimes two year warranty while repaired items usually only give you 90 days.

Look at Epson eco-tanks.

Definitely! I've printed over 4000 pages, and I still have almost half the ink remaining. A full replacement ink supply cost me $65.

I would not repair a printer that is eleven years old.

If you go with Epson or Canon look at Precision Colors for ink and icc profiles for their ink and common papers
