I recently returned from Morocco. Many Moroccans did not want their recognizable faces on social media or the internet. I do have a few good, sharp shots but will respect their desires to not post these shots. (I do not know why this is so...we got a lot of different answers.) In any event, I started doing some hand-held longer exposures for something to do. Here is one effort. I can say that the Olympus IBIS coupled with the lens stabilization in their Pro lines of lenses is darned good.

what do you think about it? For me I think that you should have turned all of the stabilization off and maybe waited until it was a little darker so that you could get more movement. I think for icm that you have to much definition in the picture... but that is just me and the one that i posted the other day is one of my only attempts at this technique

I will be posting a debrief in the Travel Section of UHH on photography in Morocco. Very very challenging environment. Most difficult I have ever encountered...and I travel a lot.

First, we were on a tour, so going back to get different light was simply not possible. Keeping up with the group and shooting at the same time was an enormous problem. We went from light to dark, racing through medinas (old city), dodging motorcycles and donkeys, at a moment's notice. There were massive numbers of people in the medinas, so getting a shot of a lone person was also a challenge. And, to beat all, most Moroccans do not like their photo taken. I tried to respect that as well. (I even had one guy who said, "no photos of donkey!) Uhhh, ok. I guess the donkey had concerns about social media, like all donkeys, I suppose. If I did get separated, it was going to be a bit of a challenge to reunite with my group. So it was run and gun for sure.

I eventually made 3 custom pre-sets for various situations (auto ISO, bracketing, etc.) which helped a bit later.

So I had to rapidly change settings and catch as catch can. If the group stopped for a few minutes, I would then play with settings, otherwise, I had to bracket the heck out of things (when I usually do not.). I never even thought of stopping stabilization, but should have since I can do it with a push of a button on my Oly Pro lenses....next time I guess.

I thought Morocco would be a bonanza for photography....it was a 6 out of 10 for me. Other places like Peru and more southern parts of Africa were much better for me. Would I go again? No. Would I suggest others go? Only if you have been to other parts of the world first...this would not be in my top 10 or so places.
