While going through my photos trying to straighten up my library, I came across this bird I shot a couple of years ago. So, I thought I would play around with it. The first one is the original shot.
For the PP work on it, I cropped it. Changed out the ski for a leaf pattern background. Used a gaussian blur on the background. Since the light was coming from the left, I did a light to dark gradient from left to right. To hopefully match the light direction.
Nicely achieved. I always forget about using gradients.

Thanks Linda. It was an afterthought when I looked at it I thought it needed a bit more.
Good process of putting the focus and detail on the bird. The green background brings out the colors of the bird.

I thought the green gave it a more natural look. The original leaf pattern was too intense as far as I was concerned. That is why I blurred the background using the Gaussian blur.
This works very well Frank, I like the depth it creates.

Thanks Dave, no heavy lifting was involved on this composite.
Nicely done Frank. I'm not familiar with the type of bird, but the facial feathers make it look like he/she is wearing a mask. Very appropriate time wise

Thanks Bev, don’t feel to bad, I don’t know the bird species either.

I believe it is a barn swallow or tree swallow. They can look similiar.

Thanks for the heads up. Been awhile since I took the shot, but where I think I took the shot it would lean towards a tree swallow. Of course I may not be the one anyone should rely on.
