I have Disney+ for a month. I got an email from them yesterday about "changes." They will be having a subscription with advertisements. Yes, you will be paying every month to watch ads on TV. If you don't want the ads, you will pay even more. I guess having a value of $203 billion (2021) isn't enough.

I heard a rumor about this a few months ago - Netflix, too.

As long as you are willing to pay there is no reason to stop. It's TV not like medicine of food. They don't have to feel guilty about getting as much money as they can out of you.

I paid for one month just to see if there's anything new I want to watch. From past experience, Disney+ doesn't offer my kind of programming.

I see ads for movies that are playing on networks that I do not have, and think that they would be interesting or enjoyable to watch. But I know that if I sign up for $8.99 a month, or $14.99 a month, or whatever, that I will find out that there just aren't enough good shows that I would be watching very often. So - hopefully all those good shows will some day come to Netflix or Amazon. (But even Amazon now has subchannels that require a separate monthly subscription). The other problem I find is that when you really don't watch that much TV, there are so many options that I could spend hours just trying to find something good to watch, which I refuse to do.

That's the problem. A channel will have one movie you want to see. Is it worth paying for a month?

while you're watching one,
the others sit,
unused.

I signed up for the Hulu package for only 15.00 a month. It has Hulu, Disney +, and ESPN +. It does have commercials but the price is right. Hulu is available without commercials by itself, but not in the package. Since I have watched TV with commercials all my life it doesn't seem like such a big deal to not have them. The one time I would prefer not to have them is when watching an actual movie.

All those U.K. whingers who complain about the BBC 'license fee' don't realise how lucky we are.
To watch a film without a break, or a sitcom from start to finish. And documentaries that run straight through so no need for a refresh after each ad break.
