Lovely images. What does she think of herself looking back 60 years? I look back on my images from 40 years ago, i matured well. LOL

I definitely wasted my years during the 70's. Should have been going to the beaches of CA during my business trips from NY. Your photos are proof.

Thanks for sharing poignant moments that revive questions to this day.

And, thanks for sharing your memories/experiences from then in the rarified atmosphere of today.

Paul et al:

"The beaches" were in fact few and far between. At Santa Barbara, where the vast majority of my photos were taken, the prime beach was at More Mesa. Another beach up the road a piece - can't remember its name - also allowed nudity but it was difficult to get to. At San Diego the prime beach was Black's Beach. I took only a handful of photos there. Sad to say More Mesa no allows such stuff because of a community decision "No naked stuff in my back yard" attitude. Shame ! - JimT

I grew up in NoCal and people went nude at all the beaches. Not an orgy thing, just discreet sun/sea worshiping. I didn't do it much though because Irish and sun are not a good combination. And also, it tended to be cooler there than in SoCal.

This is us getting off of the photographic subject, but, public nudity at clothing-optional beaches is not at all about sexuality, it is about the feeling of freedom that is difficult to describe if you have never tried it. The air and water on one's body is indescribably wonderful, at least it was to me. It isn't for everyone, and should never be forced. Photography is discouraged and taking selfies is looked at with a jaundiced eye. I would be hesitant to ever post such images publicly.

Agreed. There was a greater sense of freedom then largely coming from less fear. These beach scenes are sensual but not sexual, nor do they appear to be intended that way. Compare these with those by Bunny Yeager of Bettie Page which, although also solo on the beach, are very sexy.

Enchanting feminine elegance... superb pose dynamic... loving her graceful positioning of hands... with all the charm of an accomplished ballerina... Jim your use tonal range here is outstanding... as is the visual perspective... the repeating triangles latent within her arm and leg position witness the excellent aesthetic of this compelling narrative... Such wonderful synergy with Dawter in this timeless seaside rendering Jim.

Thank you so much for sharing...
