MBP got back. As expected they reduced my offer. I was going to tell them no but then checked the details. They deducted $70 because I didn’t send them battery or charger. I decided that was OK although I don’t recall them mentioning. Anyhow I want the extra battery and charger for the RV so did the deal. Should be here by 9/16.

U settings are not saved to card with other settings.

I menu is user programmable.

I shoot with Nikon, so I don’t have anti Nikon bias, I just prefer a better user interface which I have on other cameras.

Once again U settings are saved when you do so…in the camera firmware which is where they belong. No clue why you’d want to put on a card.

If you think something is better you must show knowledge of what you compare to. You show nothing better about anything. You demonstrate ignorance instead. I am quite happy with most Nikon programmable options.

Again, you add nothing here. You may not acknowledge your obvious bias…most don’t. Wish ignore actually worked.

Hope you go away.

The settings are saved to the U custom settings, but you can't back them up by saving them to a memory card, as you can with the PASM settings. And, you can't restore them, as you can with the PASM settings. That is why you would want to put them on a card, for the same reason you would want to put the PASM settings on a card.

Which is a feature of the Olympus and Panasonic cameras I also use.

If you need to do a reset, or if you get your camera back from repair and they have done a reset, you have to manually recreate the U settings.

Or the laborious way, which is to set up the U settings in a PASM mode, and when you save them to a U setting, you also save your settings to an SD card. If I take 4 SD cards, I can save the 3 original PASM settings and the final PASM setting to each of the SD cards, and then load each PASM setting corresponding to the U setting and save them to the U setting, and finally load the final PASM setting. If I change the U setting in place, then I've lost the ability to restore it. And this was one reason I upgraded from the Z7 to the Z7 ii; so I could use cheap low capacity SD cards to store settings for backup and restore, without having to use a computer to manage settings backup.

Not a feature that interests me. Setting up U so easy no need to save to a card. Seems like unnecessary complication. No computer needed.

Possibly why I have no interest in Olympus or Panasonic.

Again, no interest to my thread.

So what? I really don't care what you think. Nikon has very limited UI, and I use it infrequently because of that.

In fact, there are two reasons I still shoot Nikon. First, they have a better auto ISO with flash implementation. And second, as a wedding photographer the customers prefer if I show up with a big name camera. I shoot Olympus for other events, because it is better.

I used to shoot a lot with Nikon, but these days, I have to force myself to take out my Nikon gear. It's just a pain to use.

You are in my thread. Just go away!

Your biases do not interest me and are not related to my thread.

Sorry. Not going anywhere. My posts are most certainly related to your thread. I'm trying to help you deal with the limitations of Nikon's UI. And others might want to know this information.

Not to mention, you decided to insult me. And that is your problem.

Gee, happy to learn that.

Trolls aren’t welcome. Last you’ll hear from me.

You put up two posts calling me ignorant. I do hope it's the last I hear from you.

My Z7II arrived today as promised by MBP. Looks brand new and functions 100% so far. I know how to check shutter count so will get that done in a bit.

It looks and feels the same as my Z6. My half case fit fine even though it might be a smidge thicker to accommodate second card. It is happy with my Z6 batteries.

My basic settings are the same. Programmed F keys, I menu, and U settings as they were. Need a little more work on My Menu but set first to format…which is what I mostly use it for. Well, almost. The image settings differ. I am using an SD card as primary because I can put it directly into my computers without adapter. The CFb (or xqd…have one of those left also) for backup….which I never use and have little interest in but dislike leaving a slot empty. Wonder if it would refuse to work with only one card as I set it to not work if no card? Do not plan to check.

So it is time to put her to work! Headed out in the RV tomorrow to some places with great potential. Will post some images next week.

The shutter count on the camera is 500...including the 200 plus I took before checking. So basically as new as it looks.

Seems to take fine images as well.

My half case didn't allow me to get the SD card out. The shape didn't allow opening the compartment enough to get it out. So I made a little modification so it works. Something to check if you decide on a half case for either of the Zs with both cards.
