If you are into hiking check out the Mahana Coble at the top of Bousquet Mountian in Pittsfield. Great views.

Incidentally, I moved in with a Midwesterner’s view of distances, and left viewing almost all of New England as being within a day’s journey.

Be sure to check out Williamstown and the Clark Art Institute. The museum has an outstanding collection, good eats, and a spectacular location. Williams College also has a beautiful campus and fine art museum. I don't know what route you're taking, but there is some magnificent scenery along the Mohawk Trail Scenic Byway (which mostly follows Mass Route 2 as mentioned in the previous post). I'd say it rivals the Kancamagus Highway in NH.

Many great ideas, I'll throw in Shelburne Falls, beautiful town with nice bridge over the Deerfield River, glacial potholes, bridge of flowers, old candlepin bowling alley. In several movies, The Judge, Labor Day, and recently Dexter: New Blood.

Last summer, when we went back to see some people, we also saw the Bridge of Flowers and the Trolley Museum ……. but I don’t know what they would be like at this time of year.

When we lived there, we would visit nearby Mt. Tom if we wanted to go touring at this time of year.

The Clark Art Museum is wonderful and the Williams College Art Museum is also excellent. My son went to Williams College and we visited those museums many times. There is also a modern art museum which we never visited.

You might enjoy Natural Bridge State Park in North Adams, MA. I understand, though, that some trails may be closed.
