You are right Kenny....not that easy to get a good shot around those barrels. It is fun tho and a good excuse to be right up next to the action.

Story: my Dad was a cattle feeder. Every year he took a trip to Wyoming and bought a train load of calves that other feeders bought with him. One such trip, produced a 2 year old wild horse when she got on board with the calves and they could not get her off. Rancher thru her in on the deal. Turned out to be a very good 1/4 horse and a cutting horse that would single foot. I won some local barrel races with her and she was never beaten in a 1/4 mile. Mother took this picture with her box brownie of I and Babe. I could claim to be a pretty good horseman since for the most part I rode without a saddle. Photo is about 70 years old and scanned.

When shooting cattle, I like a quartering front shot. Sometimes the south end of a cow is not very pleasant.

I love this photograph---not only is the steer shot from a great angle, but the background frames him nicely without distraction.

What's the best angle to shoot a horse?...with a camera, of course. This also applies to cattle, I assume.

Depends on what you want from your shot whether its formal or playful.

i love the mare chasing her colt or filly. How cute that is !
The only thing mine chases are the neighbors Chickens or their dog out of her pasture. I never knew Chickens could get airborne so fast!
LOL
