An Optical Illusion.
Close up of empty seed pods from a Kurrajong tree. Each time I look at this image the darker spheres inside the pod look raised and more like they are full rather than the empty hollow husks that they really are.
What do others see?
Optical delusions are fun, aren't they?

Fantastic image!!!
While they look full to me, I know nothing of the tree I can't say much.
Maybe if you opened one up !! but then the Illusion would be gone.
I see raised seeds but I am more impressed with the shot. Very nicely lit and sharp capture

The top centre one looks raised to me as there seems to be a shadow of to the side of it.
I have the same problem when looking at moon craters- have to make a conscious adjustment to see them as craters and not mounds. I can do that because I know they are craters - if you had not told us they were empty, and taken a poll on who saw empty and who saw full, I wonder how many people would have seen them correctly.

Thank you for the positive feedback Mangles. The Kurrajong is a small to medium evergreen tree native to Western Australia but can be found all over Australia from wetter coastal areas to semi arid zones including Central Australia.
