Aaron Judge that is.

Prior to the start of the season the Yankees offered Judge a 7 year $215 million dollar contract extension. Judge, who will be a free agent at the end of the year turned it down.

That may have been the best decision of his life as the season he is having should net him a significantly higher offer, hopefully from the Yankees.

Judge leads the majors in just about every significant offensive category including home runs, RBIs, runs scored, on base percentage and slugging percentage as well as OPS which is on base percentage plus slugging percentage.

The only statistic he trails in is batting average. He entered the day today hitting .312 and raised that to .316 by going 4 for 5. That puts him just one point behind the American League leader and opens the possibility that he could win the Triple Crown by leading the league in Home Runs, RBIs and Batting Average.

And by the way, 2 of the 4 hits Judge got today were Home Runs giving him 59, just one behind Babe Ruth's 60 and just 2 behind Roger Maris's 61 that has stood as the Yankee and American League record for 61 years.

The Yankees have 16 games left in the regular season which should be enough for Judge to eclipse both records as he averages a home run every 2.5 games. At that rate he could hit 6 more and end up with 65.

And why should we care about athletes who are still over paid school children having fun?

If I were his agent, I'd be weeping in my pillow. That's a lot of money.

No one says you should.
It's all optional on your part.

Same way I don't care if you whine about it.

After all, $30 million a year is not enough to get by on. This is why I do not follow sports

They are, of course, grossly overpaid but the fans are apparently OK with that. They're paying for it.The thing I have a problem with is the comparison with the records of players from decades ago. There have been so many changes in the game over the years (with more to come) that comparisons and broken records seem meaningless. Plus, it's always Yankees with these home run records. Maybe that very short right-field fence in Yankee Stadium helps a little bit.

I would like to see St. Louis get him but with two players that match his statistics in most categories other than home runs it is unlikely. Can you imagine a pitcher having to face Goldschmidt, Arenado, and Judge as the 3,4, and 5 hitters in a row?

Judge hits most of his homers to left center and center. Besides, he is so powerful, that they are mostly enormous shots, not dinks.
I don’t know how much he should get for a 10 year contract though. He’s 30 with a history of injuries, possibly because of his size (6’7’’ & 280 lbs or so). That’s a lot to carry for 162 games + playoffs. I have no idea how to value Judge given his abilities and his injury potential over a 10 year contract.

He is a terrific player, a joy to watch and, other than my Dodgers, a bright spot in baseball this season...hope he breaks the home run record!! Would love to see a Yankee-Dodger World Series.

$215 million might sound like a lot of money, but it's just a little over $30 million a year averaged over seven years.

I went to the 3 hr Reggie game in 1977 with my friend. It was a blast.
I also went to the 2nd game of the 1963? Series with my father, and watched Johnny Padres pitch for the Dodgers.
You didn’t have to be told how or when to start rooting back then. And on commercials between innings.
