(full screen recommended) This photo almost didn't happen. I was at Bryce Canyon (for the 1000th time) on a grey, cloudy evening. I had hiked and shot in the morning and had a productive morning so I wasn't feeling overly excited about the dull evening. I went anyway because you just never know.
Then, the "you just never know" happened and it started snowing lightly as the sun popped out from behind a cloud on the horizon. For 5 minutes or so, the entire forest lit up with backlit golden flakes. I was already in a good place to look back at the forest so I put on the telephoto and shot what I could and focused the best I could.

Hope you enjoy:)

A shot like this doesn't need pin-sharp focus. In fact it might benefit from being a little softer.

I agree. It depends on a personal taste but if it was my shot I would add more brightness.
Fabulous image, beautifully done.

π this was the first image in the series I shot and right at the beginning of the show. More exposure (brightness) here would make this not look like how it looked. It wasn't bright. But in a few minutes it became much brighter! Thanks for your thoughtsπ

I tried to focus on the trees and let the rest of the scene be what it will. These are tricky..too sharp and the softness of the scene fades, too soft and the definition that was visible to the eye fades. I shot quite a few frames to choose the best variation:) thanks!
