I bought a used Z 7 and it didnt come with a manual, I went to a car show last week and found that my right thumb kept accidently changing the focus point. Can anyone give me a step by step (if possible) to change the commands on the rocker switch to something else.

Welcome to the Z7. Here is a Nikon link to download the Z7 Manual, just copy and paste. https://downloadcenter.nikonimglib.com/en/products/492/Z_7.html You'll want to download both the Online Manual and the Reference Manual. Hope you enjoy your new Z7. Bev

Look in Menus -- commands. There you will find that you can set the rocker and other buttons to perform a multitude of commands and you can set them up to your preferences. Also, I disable the touch screen because if your nose or another part of your face contacts it, it can change your focus point. I set the rocker switch so that when pressed straight down, it brings the focus point back to dead center.

The manual is free for download and save in PDF format direct from the Nikon site. As are all Nikon manuals.

Well I used to be able to download the manual for my Coolpix 5000 but it's no longer available. Now only the manual for the P5000 is available. I learned my lesson to save my camera manuals download. I keep my cameras much longer than the manufacturers keep the manuals on their website.

That's the coolpix P5000 not the 5000. The P5000 is newer.
It is this one https://imaging.nikon.com/lineup/coolpix/others/5000/index.htm
and not this one https://www.nikonusa.com/en/nikon-products/product-archive/compact-digital-cameras/coolpix-p5000.html

I think from the same google results there are some third-party sites with electronic copies of the manual. It certainly doesn't change the situation for our OP where the Z7 manual is readily available for download.

Just go into the controls menu and disable the joystick at the top right rear of the camera.
