Why don't you blame Nikon who failed to deliver a camera you wanted to buy 100 days ago? That's the failure you should be giving up on.

Exactly!!!!!

Yikes, that sucks. That is why I either use PayPal or use my own Banks' Cards. I stay away from most retailers own "financing". There are a few exceptions that I will not go into here. Good luck. Hope you don't end up needing an attorney.

No, I won't need an attorney. As I said the problem has been resolved. It was just a huge headache and inconvenience to get there. I don't finance anything...I never have. I got Payboo to avoid paying the tax. With B&H's old bank (Synchrony), Payboo worked perfectly fine, however with Comenity it's been a hassle. My beef isn't with B&H so much as it's with Comenity. This could be an isolated case. I'm just putting it out there to inform others. Take it for what it's worth.

I have had nothing but trouble with pay boo after the switch from synchrony to comenity. Big purchases are now adorama per edge. I only use pay boo for small ticket items. Comenity has extremely poor customer service

You can say that again.

The problem is that they are so popular that even Canon fans are ditching their systems and ordering them, making it difficult for Nikon shooters to get theirs...

Nikon lost a customer for not able to deliver their product. If the Z9 is in stock at B&H then it's not a problem regardless of the mess up with Payboo card.

I had the old PayBoo card. I had to reapply for the new one. I was denied because they said my credit rating was suspiciously too high..... It looks like they did me a favor.

You have good credit and thus you would pay off your balance before they have a chance to make money in interest so they ended up loosing the tax money. I am sure it's Payboo (not B&H) pays the tax in order to get people owe them money.

Oh, Great point! I never thought about that.

B&H offers the Payboo card but they do NOT have access to it with individuals. They do not keep a record of it.

I have worked with them as the organizer for the Long Island Photography meetup and as a customer. I have always received GREAT customer service. I have called to ask questions about different things, and they spend the time answering all my questions, even though I did not buy anything.

I recently had an issue with a broken camera. I needed a new one asap. I had just returned from a trip, I called on a Friday to order the new camera. They close at 2 pm on Fridays. The sales person said it would ship out on Monday. I got it on Saturday!!!

Please give them a chance. Things are difficult these days, so be kind, be patient and try again.
Wishing you the best.

B&H has failed in customer service and lost a future customer, for cancelling my Z9 order after 100 days. Received email saying order was cancelled. Called customer service explained I had order with a temporary Payboo card number (B&H house card) and had entered the permanent card number into their system when I received it. I have even ordered a lens and received it using the permanent card. I had been assured that there would be no problem with the back ordered item as it would switch automatically to the new number. Apparently that did not happen and B&H did not even check for the new number in my account. The kicker is I would have to create a new order and go to the bottom of the wait list. I had seen at least one post earlier this year with a similar situation, which is why I checked to be sure the switch would take place.
In the last year I have purchased a Z6 II and two Z mount lenses from B&H, not using a Payboo card. I will not buy another thing from them. I know that B&H could care less about my business, but if this saves one other person from a similar problem this post is worth it.

Let’s be honest. If you were not trying to skate on paying sales taxes and had used a regular credit card, there would be no problem. Perhaps you have heard of TINFL? There is no free lunch!
By the way, after sitting on backorder with B & H for 2 months, I simply ordered direct from Nikon and received my camera 6 weeks later. I paid sales tax, but didn’t cost a penny until shipment.

I looked at reviews of payboo and they are pretty much universally negative.

Can you post where you are seeing reviews? I had the old payboo card and I have the new one.
I have only had very positive experiences with B&H. Are they perfect, no not all all. They are in the business to make money, as all businesses are. Do they make mistakes, yup, is anyone perfect? Nope.

After reading these stories about Payboo I am glad I never gave it a try. I have one card that I use for online purchases. It is from Capitalone. Their customer service and security are excellent. Twice over the years they have alerted me to fraud attempts that could have cost me hundreds. Not at B&H, BTW, where I have spent way more then I like to admit. Like all my cards it automatically pays in full every month so I haven't paid any interest or late fees in decades. Payboo looked tempting but I always felt that the system could bring new problems and fees that I didn't want to deal with. After reading this post I think I was right. When I buy I just look at the final price with the sales tax included. If the amount is acceptable I submit the order. If not, then I don't. Simple.

Does anyone else recall that Payboo was originally promoted as a way to “avoid“ sales tax?

So if you’re looking for free lunch, and the plan goes awry, the fault, if any is no one’s but your own.

You can Google it as easily as I did.
I don't do Google searches for others when they can do it easily.
Key word.
Payboo
