Induro CLM204L is a good one, and it won't break the bank either. I am 5'9" and never have it extended all the way

Can’t agree more with Induro for a good economical choice. I bought a Gitzo a long time ago but if I had it to do over would probably do the Induro due to lower price but high value. The one bit of advice I would provide is buy what you really need and don’t under it with the knowledge it does not provide what you need but will get you by. If need be make the investment now so you do not need to buy another or live with buyer’s remorse every time you pull it out. I am proud to say I have only ever bought one tripod. It was not cheap but I never had to buy another (which is pretty common).

You don't mention a budget, so I will offer this option which I have found to be quite useful - the Steadicam Air-25

It's lowest section incorporates a gas piston, meaning you can quickly raise and lower it by pressing a lever at the foot and either letting it rise or pushing it down (much like an office chair). When I shoot things like rodeo or roller derby and find myself constantly having to change locations at the venue, that ability saves a lot of time and effort as I can, for instance, move from the ground level (where the monopod is taller) to the stands (where the monopod foot is on the seat in front of me and I can shorten it to put the camera at my eye level.

I love my Manfrotto 676B, with flip locks. But what really makes this sing for me is the Wimberley MH-100 Mono Gimbal that's so sweet with the L brackets. I hope this link helps, or search the make/model.

I like my enduro. The real question however is going to be what head are you going to put on it. I agree with the previous post, depending on what you are planning on shooting. The Wimberley mono gimbal is a great choice.

I use a Benro MAD49C Monopod with the Wimberley MH-100 Monopod Gimbal. I have used it with a Nikkor 500mm F/4 G and Nikon D5 shooting action sports with no problems at all. The head is the key, not the monopod.

Check out 3 Legged Thing. They Make 2 different sizes; I'm 5'8" and chose the shorter version. They are rated for a lot of support and I use a Canon R5 with a version 1 600mm with no issues. I paired it with the Wimbberly mono gimbal head and its a winning combination. Check out Whistling Wings Photography on Youtube for his video of the harness system he uses. I use a similar version and it works well, eliminating changing heights of the monopod!

I have liked the Benro Adventure 4 Series Aluminum Monopod (MAD49A) with a Wimberley MH-100 Wimberley MonoGimbal Head. It's pretty heavy duty and provides great stabilization and flixibility for long lenses.

My old Gitzo all carbon monopod works like new. I like the idea of putting a gimbal on it. I hadn’t considered that option.
