Lithium-ion Battery Not Allowed on Plane

They are to be carry-on, not in the checked luggage. Camera batteries are allowed as long as they are small and accessible. Key word here is "accessible". It is hard to deal with a battery that is in a suitcase in the cargo hold. They have sensors that can detect smoke in the hold area, but then they have to deal with a problem that has had a significant head start on any solution.

They are not allowed in checked baggage. They must be kept in containers that insulate them from contact with other items in your carry-on bags. Batteries in your camera or other devices are allowed.

I was on a Sprint Airlines flight over the weekend and they announced, in addition to no lithium batteries in checked baggage, that no recalled batteries were allowed in carry on baggage.

In order to not run afoul of airport inspectors, I put a piece of blue painters tape across the terminal end of every one of the many spare batts I have in my carryon bag. If I can find the plastic caps that came with the batts originally, I also attach the caps, but I have lost many of those caps so always use the tape. Never been questioned.

You're 100% correct. Batteries in the carry-on are fine, not for check-in.

While the warnjng is aboutair transport, you may wamt tl check with TSA. The term "Lithiuy-Ion batteries" is quite broad, but if you put your camera batteries on the check in luggage, it won't be a problem.

Our planned trip to Spain to bike the Camino trail,canceld as lithiumim batteries for ebikes were not allowed on planes.

Our church had a major fire. Suspect was LiH batteries in pile of stuff for a community sale.

There have been a couple of fires in commercial aircraft containers in the cargo hold. UPS lost a plain a few years ago because of such a fire. They have changed the container style and added fire suppression in the onboard containers but are still gun-shy of transportation of such batteries by individual folks.

Guzset02, I think you mean if you put them on your carry on, your ok.

They can be carried in your carry on luggage, but not in the hold.
