Nice photograph; you should visit Madison over July 4 weekend for the hydroplane regatta.
The tows coming past Louisville typically are 3 barges wide and 5 barges long, and pushed by a single towboat. In the spring when the water is high and moving fast, they may be pushed by two towboats, especially when they have to maneuver through and around bridges.

Interesting, and too much crowd for me on the 4th. I do have a friend who goes every year and shoots the Regatta. He gets great photos.

Nice photo! I live next to the East River in Manhattan and often shoot photos of tugboats working that river. My father worked on the waterfront and I guess I have an affinity with river traffic!
