Greetings.
Tour handled everything very smoothly. Our small group developing well and getting to know one another. Our guide and our bus driver were really great. We were introduced to a number of locals in each location and got to know a bit about their lives, customs and food.
I was warned to take lots of sun screen lotion and insect repellent. Unfortunately, my bottle of repellent was confiscated at the airport for exceeding quantity allowed. As it turned out, I had no problem with insect bites the entire trip without it.
Locations: Stayed at Selva Verde lodge; nice grounds surrounded by lush vegetation with lots of birds, monkeys and small, interesting, critters.
Sarapiqui:
Selva Verde Lodge is in a rural area and in the mountains. The area's natural beauty can be seen at Barra del Colorado National Wildlife Refuge. Water adventures with kayaking, rafting, and boat tours nearby, enjoy the ziplining. I did not personally do anything in the above sentence.
Sarapiquí River:A tributary of the San Juan River; forms the eastern border of Sarapiquí Canton. The area around the river is mostly lowlands tropical rainforest, with lush vegetation and a large variety of plant, animal and insect life. This river is navigable and is a local trading artery, and also supports fishing and tourism activity.
Selva Verde Lodge.
Orcids on hiking trail.
Sarapiqui river runs along lodge property.
River boat similar to the boat our group was on.
Iguana on river bank.
Alligator waiting for lunch.
Boarding our river boat at Old Port.
Quiet view from river boat.
Lunch at local home.
Gap in trees on way back to Lodge.
It really is a lovely place, at least in the season that I visited.
Thanks,
Larry
