One thing that strikes me is the spare tire. Even back then they had smaller, thinner temporary tires for when there was a flat. The spare looks considerably thinner than the tires being used.

this, in the covered side mount, would be a full sized spare. Many of the tires back then seemed to have a narrower footprint than many of today's tires.
