One other thing, do oral histories on tape with them. When my Dad's extended family gathered at his parents' every month, they used to tell great storied of growing up in the hills of W.Va. They'd just laugh and laugh. I wish I'd put a cassette recorder on the table and captured them, as well as gotten histories from my Italian immigrant grandparents.
