I purchased the 300mm from a member here, mostly because of the weight. I really love it. Now I just wish I could find a 500mm PF reasonably priced. The original and then cropped

I use that lens on a D500 with a 1.4 teleconverter. Gives the full frame equivalent of 630 mm at f5.6. It’s quite light and hand-holdable and I use it when I don’t want to get out the D850 with the 500pf.

I have the 300mm pf and a Sigma 150-600mm along with a D780 and a D500. I do wildlife exclusively and mostly use the 300 pf with a 1.4x extender on the D780. Very flexible and mobile to catch birds in flight.
