Did you know that there's a small industry built around repairing and modifying the iPod? You can actually build a new iPod with all the parts that are available. Except for the motherboard, everything is being offered new. A popular mod is replacing the hard drive with an SSD. Elite Obsolete Electronics is one of the parts suppliers.

I have a Sansa Clip+ mp3 player. I didn't like the way it worked, as it wanted to make a database of the files. I found Rockbox, a new firmware that's installed alongside the Sansa's. I put my music files on an SD card, create a playlist of all songs and it works great. I have nearly 1100 albums ripped and placed on an SD card in the player. It's just what I want.

Sounds good. It's amazing how much music a flash drive can hold.

I'm the crazy outcast who has wiped the iPod and reformated it as a flash drive and it now serves as a windows 10 installation disk.

I have two of the original iPods that still work fine. But, for the last several years, I haven't been able to get iTunes (or SyncIOS, or iMazing) to sync with them so that I can update the music on them.

Funny! I have one hooked up to an FM broadcaster so I can listen to music throughout the house and yard.

I have an older one also.
I lent it out to my youngest.
HE then lent it to his girlfriend.
SHE lent it to her mother.
Who named it and put an effen password on it.
TWO YEARS later, I get it back.
She doesn't remember the password.
*sigh*
Another project.

I have two responses when people want to borrow something: I don't have one; it's broken. I'm sick of not getting things returned, and people saying, "Oh, I gave that back to you weeks ago. Remember?"

what I get is always
"It's not my fault! My buddy has it!
When I get it back I'll let you know!"
eBay has these multi OSX install USBs.
I just ordered my 3rd in 2 years.

iTunes has been superseded by Music, and the music on my iPod and Macs syncs just fine.

I use a PC; haven't been able to get it to sync there in ages.
