Dormant in the middle of a wheat field...a silent reminder of yesteryears hopes and ambitions.
Excellent, jederick. It sure conveys nostalgia to me.
Interesting photo, and a vivid reminder that on the high prairie the only time you see trees in what were once native grasslands are either near a stream or near homes where they were planted
Well said. When I see an abandoned structure a thought that comes to mind is what happened to the residents hopes, dreams, and ambitions. Sometimes we know what happened (industrial changes?), sometimes we donβt know.
Poignant, Jim, you excel at this!

In California it is I would say worse, native trees, native shrubs, and native grasses being replaced by farmland, and exotic imported grasses. Even in places were no one lives for miles around. LA and SF are only tiny parts of CA. There is still a high percentage of the state that is not built on, but most of the land has been disturbed.
What a cute little fixer upper. Well done.
