That printer new is $899. Used $600. If you can find them.

You used to be able to buy a Pro 100 for a net cost of $150 after rebate. Now it's expensive.

I got a present a Canon Pro - 100 used printer and it has not been used for 3 years or so. Any suggestions how to go about it to get "the best I can get"? Thanx.

You are not saying it is broken, just that it has not been used in 3 years.

I was given a Canon Pixma PRO-100 that was slightly used. I just put in a new fresh set of Ink and it worked perfectly. It still runs fine. That model is out of manufacture anyway so prices now mean nothing. Canon ink sets for it are around $135.

RobertP, If you want to now anything about the Canon Pro 100 printer, go to Jose Rodriguez Photo Printing Techie on you tube. If he can't answer your questions no one can.

RobertP, I have the same printer, I have been using after market, 3rd party ink for years. I refill my cartridges but I never let them go dry. Also the ink company I use is Precision Colors @ www.Precisioncolors.com. I will make one other suggestion, Mr. Rodriguez says Do not use an old YELLOW cartridge. Buy a new empty one and start from scratch, but keep the old cartridge and remove the chip and place it on the new cartridge. If any of the other cartridges look dry, pith them, it is more work to clean them than it is worth, but first remove and mark each chip so you know which cartridge it goes with. You will need a chip gismo to reset the chips or they will not work. The re set gismo is very cheap, I think about $10.00? I have mine for years. The printer is a good printer and if you refill your cartridges it is even better. Good luck.

I have the Canon Pro-100 and I think it is a great printer for the price. I would do [ 1 ] nozzle clean then check the head alignment. It the nozzles are clogged, take the ink cartridges out, remove the head and take a clean cloth that is used for cleaning your glasses, make it wet with distilled water. Then place the print head on the cloth and let it set for a few hours. You may have to do this more than once to get the ink in the nozzles to liquefy. Put the head back in and run a nozzle alignment again. Also be aware that the Yellow ink is the most problematic. I have two sets of cartridges and I refill them. If you do refill, never let the cartridges go totally empty. The yellow cartridge, I suggest to purchase a new one, do NOT use the one that is in the printer now. One more point, the act of cleaning the nozzles put ink into a reservoir with a piece of sponge and a sensor. Ones the ink in this reservoir trips the sensor you are DONE. There is only one known way to reset the sensor, but you have to contact a Russian gentleman for the information. Good luck, but do not do any more nozzle cleaning than you have to, just print a small photo every two days, on plain paper.

For some printers it's possible t clean those ink jets.
A syringe, alcohol and a piece of tube.
Pump back and forth until free and clear, then again with fresh alcohol.
