What I really like is when at a meeting, the speaker starts out by asking everyone to shut off their phone. Once speaking, someone’s phone rings, usually belonging to an old person (like me). The phone rings and rings, usually with a most annoying ringtone, while the owner sets there thinking it is someone else’s phone. After 50 people look at him, he realizes it’s his phone and then fumbles with it trying to get it to stop. When that doesn’t work, he answers and tells the caller that he can’t talk because he’s in a meeting. The caller, being an old fart like me, can’t hear what he said and asks him to repeat what he said. After about three repetitions of this back and forth, the caller finally tells him that what he has to say won’t take that long and starts in on a long winded conversation that goes nowhere and says nothing. Which everyone in the room can hear. And rather than get up and leave the room, the called person then continues the conversation while still setting there, while the speaker (usually me) fights the urge to stomp the phone squarely into the ass of the phone’s owner.
