BB4A and rvphotonz, you guys are hilarious. Your exchange made it worth it. (I keep wondering how you survived putting 8-legged creatures on a woman, any woman.)

Was all her idea. Haha..She brought them from a supermarket and I had no idea till she turned up with them. Worked fucken cool though. I took some more blatant sexy shots with them as well, which was what she wanted - and tbh, would go down better here also - but I preferred this subtle approach with some abstraction myself, trying different things :)
Have had people [rightly ;)] gushing over this shot elsewhere so its fascinating to see negative reaction here :)

I find it just a bit too dark and "blurred" to see any detail that would let me know what I am looking at. I see her head/face/hair, and maybe a hand, and possibly a breast, and a few tentacles. But the big blurry "thing" in the middle is just overwhelming and confusing.

I think you just expressed what makes this photo work ;). It invites exploration. It's why abstraction in photography works. To tease something. Make people work for it. I find abstract photography thrilling. The devil is in the details as they say :)
My favourite thing is the octopus on her shoulder, its so subtle and usually not seen the first time looking at the photo, but adds so much depth once seen :)
I enjoy the puzzle, discovering detail you didn't see previously. It's not for everyone (haha, clearly as this thread has shown), but yeah, I find it far more satisfying as a photographer who does multiple nude shoots a week to use some of my time to explore beyond simple representations. Haha, another photo of mine that got a bit of negative feedback here was the only other one I posted where I explore this idea of obfuscation,

I agree with your philosophy on making a photo enticing, but sometimes it doesn’t quite work out as planned. This on is too obscure for me.

Yeah? How so? Genuinely curious. I find it beautiful myself.
For me, the subject is so dark there is nothing that tells a story other than subtle hints. Maybe if it was lightened up?

I have no problem with this one. It caught my attention anyway. Not enough to make a comment if memory serves. As I said, I like a lot of your stuff very much. Maybe most of your stuff. The Blue thing, is, I think, the only thing so far that I have actually disliked. But no one will please all of the people all of the time!!
