I would take your kit lenses and the 10-20mm lens. If you want a new lens a 16-80mm lens would likely let you leave your other lenses home.

To the OP - Don't forget, the crop factor for the D7200 is 1.5:1. So 28:-32 ff is 19-21 for your camera. 50 ff is ~35 for the D7200.

What you mean is that if you put a 35mm lens on a D7200, you get the same perspective as a 50mm lens on a full frame camera. By the same token, if you put a 50mm lens on a D7200, you get the perspective of a 75 mm lens on a full frame camera. Both might not be wide enough for some interior shots. You'd be better off with your wider lenses and cranking up the ISO unless you want to buy an expensive lens that's both fast and wider.

My wife and I are going on an Israel tour Nov 28 - Dec 9 and I'm looking for recommendations for which lenses to carry. Shooting Nikon D7200 and here is the full list of lenses that I have:
1) Nikon DX VR AF-S NIKKOR 18-55mm 1:3.5-5.6 G II (Kit)
2) Nikon DX AF-S NIKKOR 55-300mm 1:4-5.6 GED (Kit)
3) AF-S DX NIKKOR 35mm f/1.8G
4) AF-S Micro NIKKOR 40 mm 1:2.8G
5) AF-P NIKKOR 10-20mm 1:4.5-5.6G
6) Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 50mm f/1.8G Lens
7) Tamron SP 85mm F/1.8 DI VC USD (F016)- NIKO
8) Tamron 18-400mm F3.5-6.3 Di II VC HLD
9) Tamron 150-600 F/5-6.3 Di VC USD G2

I'm leaning to 3, 5, and 8 to keep it light (I'm definitely leaving out #9!!) but is there another I should consider? Either rent or buy (if budget allows).

I'm attaching screenshot of Itinerary if that helps.
Thanks!

I agree with your choice (3,5,8), it will cover all the sites. BTW, I like your trip's itinerary. I lived in Israel for almost 6 years and didn't see quite a few of these sites. Of course, I was working, not traveling.

We visited three years ago. I took a total of 76GB of images. I just went thru 27 directories that encompass those images and randomly chose one image per directory. Of the 27 images, 23 were at 50mm and wider and only four were longer than 50mm. I was using a Canon 80D and the 18-135mm lens the entire time. The focal length you will shoot at will depend on the type of subjects you like to shoot, but I didn't feel at all limited by this kit.

My tourism in Israel has only been in Jerusalem, 3 visits though. I would echo the suggestion of a fast wide angle, a lot of my favorite shots have been in low light. 24-105 or 24-75 were good options for Canon/Sony full frame, a fast 20mm equivalent prime might be worth renting. Tripod a real PIA to carry around but I used it a lot when I did so, inside some of the holy sites and for evening shots.

My wife and I went to Israel back in 2019 for 3 weeks. Since we would be getting on and off the tour bus quite a bit, I elected to just take my Fujifilm XT3 with the Fuji XF16-55mm f2.8 lens. In regular 35mm it would be equal to a Nikon 24-80mm lens. I used it for everything we saw. Having the f2.8 lens really helped with night shots also. We were on the go so much though I was thankful I just took one lens, instead of trying to carry extra lenses and changing them all the time. You’ll have a great time there. We felt safer in Israel than we do in Albuquerque. The only time we were told too beware of anything was at the Temple Mount in Jerusalem. They have a lot of pickpockets there.

I had the great opportunity to visit there a few years ago on a security and counter terrorism thing. An amazing experience. . . .

Take plenty of soap in addition to your camera. You'll find subtle but excessive brain washing all the time. Counter terrorism? -- ask Amnesty International. They finally reported that Israel is an apartheid state; of course Israel said, "Who? Us?"

The OP asked for an opinion on lenses. Even if you believe what you say, saying it here could put this thread into the attic in a flash. No politics anywhere else. That's policy.

I would go with the Tamron G2 18-400 for the most part. Also I would take the 18-55 if you know you will not need very much reach at that time.

I am sure there are hate Israel sites that you can post to. This is a photography site and should be free of political statements.

Do not think the various Muslim countries are any different? Apartheid?? Think Afghanistan.

If one lens, #8; if two lenses, #5 and #8; if you want some shots at higher quality levels, then #3 as well. I think your selections are spot on. If I were a bit younger and thinner, I would offer to go to help you carry your luggage. Have a good time and remember to post your memorable shots.

That’s a perfect time of the year to go. Temps will be pleasant. I left all my heavy gear at home at took my Canon M5 with 15-45mm. Also took my converter and 24-105 L lens just in case. I had no issues whatsoever. My wife shoots a Nikon D3500 and she took her 24-120 f4 lens only with no issues. I would recommend taking your 10-20mm for sure
